Deer Cam, November 2006

    bobcat

On November 15 , 2006 we installed a web cam that followed the decomposition and clean up of a deer carcass. The deer was hit and killed by a car on the Carmel Valley Road on Hastings. We had some problems with the camera's infra-red LEDs, but we did get one image of the bobcat that eventually ate most of the deer. The deer was almost entirely gone November 21.

Photos from Nov 18, 2006: Partially consumed by bobcat or lion. New IR LEDs installed.

Movie from Nov 19, 2006. Rest of deer eaten by bobcat (3.6Mb).

Photos from Nov 20, 2006: Mostly consumed by bobcat, but fly larvae getting the lion's share.

Photos from Nov 21, 2006: Head and legs gone; all but a few ribs and skin left; hair and larvae.
