Butterflies of Hastings Over the last 11 years, Dr. Jerry Powell has visited Hastings with several of his colleagues to count breeding butterflies in June.. These include: Liam O'Brien, E. Brucker, S. Cho, Paul Opler, J. DiPiero, F, & J. Sperling, M, Bahou, P. Johnson, and J. & P. Schultz. And here, we show the species known from the last few summers and reflect the most common species. For more information on the annual butterfly counts, conducted by NABA (North American Butterfly Association) across North America each June, click here. NABA publishes ther results of the counts each year. An example year (2007) from Hastings can be found here. Images copyrighted by Paul Opler are used here with permission.
