We selected about 43 images and put them into a movie, and you can pause the movie, or go one frame at a time. The light on the scene changes dramatically. You will see the scene never changes, but the shadows, animals present, etc. change constantly. Enjoy trying to find the animal! --19 species in 30 days.

Bobcat- visited most nights. Appears to be a young one. Screech Owl- small owl, sat on the same rock many nights. Lower right. Black-headed Grosbeak- same rock the owl uses. Mountain Quail- adults visit and bring along a covey of young ones. Red-shouldered Hawk- visited on two days. Feral Pig- visited mostly in evenings and at night. One huge pig with a torn ear. Fence Lizard- set the camera off many, many times. On rocks. California Sister butterfly- Also set the camera off many times. Sometimes with lizard! Junco- uses the same rock as the owl! California Towhee- brown bird, on the same rock! Spotted Towhee- yet another visitor to the Bird Rock. Wood Rat- seen once at night..fuzzy image. Mule Deer- visited several days, once up close. Both does and bucks, no young seen- yet. Grey Squirrel- stopped in 2 or 3 days. Opossum- only at night, kind of ghostly. Striped Skunk- visited on 2 days Researchers- walk by on the way to study birds up the hill- most days... Bat- could not determine the kind, but they set the camera off many times each night- a streak. Mountain Lion- there once. But great to see it.

June and July 2011
A family of striped skunks- one adult and two young, played most nights at the spring. Mountain quail chicks, young deer, and a bobcat cub were present. Click here for Movie (.wmv 1Mb)
August 1 to October 10, 2011
Skunks are there every night, but we did see 3, count 'em, 3 mountain lions at the spring in a group one night. Also foxes, mountain quail, lots of bobcat visits, etc.
